They did it again, oh yes they did it… the Kakumdo girls’ gave us talking points this past weekend. They blessed our TL with their flamboyant hues of yellow and green.
Wesley Girls’ High School Cape Coast, a school many of us have come to love and admire. With their rich heritage of training women of substance who are at the commanding heights of their chosen professions and careers.
I followed closely on their social media platforms how fervent preparations went into the event.
They left no stone unturned and made sure to dot and cross the Is and Ts. The major highlight for me was the intentionality that went into the selection of their kente.
The name for the design which is part of the adinkra symbols is “Nsaa” (a symbol of excellence and authenticity) you would agree with me those are some of the values Gey Hey instills in its products when they pass through the school as students.
The Jasper Ladies took into consideration all the minutest details and went further to form 10 sub committees ranging from; legal, branding & Comms, fundraising, finance, events and the one that got me astounded was the prayer committee. Ei y’all indeed follow the King ampa 😂
If this is not excellent project management, tell me what it is?
I don’t intend to make this article long. I want to make it a short and relaxing piece for your delight.
For the past 4 years I have assumed and committed myself to be the fashion police for Gey Hey Speech day. I also do for other girls schools.
Others enjoy it and others disgust my very attempt to put a word together 😂😂😂 it’s nothing personal just love from this side.
I’ve gotten emails from women who credit me for helping them make the right fashion choices for events.
The Kakumdo ladies gave us fashion. Is something year in year out some of them break the bank to get outfits to come and slay. It’s become the Met Gala for school reunions.
Here are some looks that made my list for best dressed.
Let’s dig in….
Well done ladies for pulling off a good show. From the awards, speech day, evening jam and beach party is a testament to team work and awesome sisterhood.
I know the 2003 baddies will blow off my mind in the fashion department next year. Also try and take individual pictures. I saw some nice outfits but most were in groups and difficult to review.
Ayeeko!!!

This year the millennium ladies, which is the class of 2002 had the honor of hosting the school’s Speech and Prize Giving Day. A landmark event on the school’s calendar. Indeed a legacy of excellence.
