King Opoku Ware’s Granddaughter got hitched 🤵🏾 👰🏾

The 15th King of the Ashanti Kingdom, Late Otumfuor Opoku Ware II’s beautiful and brainy granddaughter, Emily Owusu-Nyantekyi got hitched to his heartthrob Kwadwo Amponsah on Saturday, 7th January, 2023.

The highbrow wedding was the right spectacle to precede 2023 weddings of the high mighty. A society watcher like myself, I’m all here for it.

The wedding had every element of what class and style means. Starting off with a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Holy Spirit Cathedral here in Accra and to a high octave reception at the plush Kempinski Hotel. The Adlon ball room of the hotel saw a huge transformation from the decor and took me a minute to figure out it was indeed the Kempinski.

The event had in attendance a cross section of the creme de la creme or one will say the one percent of the percent of Ghanaian society. The President and the First Lady of Ghana were in attendance, Nana Akufo-Addo and Becks, former President, Kufuor and wife of his royal majesty Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, Lady Julia was also in attendance amongst other royals of the Manhyia Palace household.

Mother of the bride, Dr. Leslie Oheneba Akyaa Opoku Ware, daughter of late Nana Opoku Ware II. Herself an accomplished medical doctor and currently Ghana’s Ambassador Plenipotentiary to Russia.

The bride is a lawyer and an economist. A true brainy beauty. Little is known of the groom. Who I believe is accomplished in his own right.

No surprise the wedding pulled the high and mighty as guest. Also on the guest list were friends of the couple whom were mostly the “cool kids” of Accra.

Weeks before the white wedding, played host to kaleidoscope of colours of the Kente cloth for the traditional ceremony in Kumasi the Ashanti Region. It was a royalty affair.

We wish the couple marital bliss!
